Yesterday, Every State, Every Vote Co-Chairs Oregon Gov. Kate Brown and Stacey Abrams joined Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Fair Fight Action to hold a national virtual press conference urging Americans who requested mail ballots to return them right away.
The upcoming election will have historic consequences. With record turnout expected and the pandemic shifting the way we conduct our elections, it’s more important than ever that Americans return their ballots as soon as possible to ensure their vote is counted and their voice is heard.
As of today, millions of Americans have not returned their ballots. The leaders encouraged Americans to get their ballots in as early as possible, either through drop box, the mail, or by returning them directly to their election offices. Voters can make a plan to vote and check their state’s rules at iwillvote.com.
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer: “We are at the final days of this election, and it’s going to be a historic election. November 3rd is coming really quickly. So many ballots have been requested and not yet turned in – Michigan still has 1 million outstanding votes. Voters should go to iwillvote.com and make a plan to return their ballot quickly. This effort is not about partisanship. It’s about making sure every ballot gets in and every vote is counted. This is foundational to our democracy.”
Every State, Every Vote Co-Chair Oregon Gov. Kate Brown: ”Thousands of Oregonians haven’t turned their ballots in yet. I am urging Americans across the country to get their ballots in and to get them in now. We are hoping the media will join us in sounding the alarm. We need all Americans to believe that your vote is your voice and that your voice matters. Let’s make sure in November, we have historic turnout across the entire country. We can change the country and the world by voting. It’s time to get your ballot in.”
Every State, Every Vote Co-Chair Stacey Abrams: “We are eight days out from the election. Don’t wait, don’t delay, get your ballot in as soon as possible to make sure your vote counts.”
