“This bill will enable election officials to continue to support the safest, most accessible election possible under these unprecedented circumstances.”

On Monday, Democratic Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak signed a bill requiring the state to automatically mail a ballot to all active voters for the upcoming general election. This measure will protect the health and safety of Nevadans while ensuring their right to vote amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nevada will still open at least 140 in-person polling places throughout the state for those who need it. Gov. Sisolak and the legislature hope that mail-in ballots will help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Nevada, while expanding voting access.

President Trump attacked the Nevada legislation yesterday, threatening to sue the state and claiming vote-by-mail will increase voter-fraud. Experts agree across the board that voter fraud of any kind is exceedingly rare.
